Grenåskilen
Grenåskilen is a REE-targeted project in Hammerdal, Jämtland, where SGU's geochemical indications and thorium-related gamma radiation have been followed up through boulder mapping and analysis of REE-anomalous boulders.
Project focus
Boulder hunting with gamma spectrometry and pXRF
Searching for the source of previously identified REE-interesting rock.Evaluation of REE, uranium, and thorium anomalies
Assessing whether geochemical and radiometric indications warrant further work.
Grenåskilen is an REE-focused project in Hammerdal, Jämtland. The project is based on SGU's documented REE and yttrium indications in till and stream peat, high thorium-related gamma radiation, as well as previous boulder mapping where REE-anomalous boulders have been identified.
Crustal's work is focused on following up on the REE-anomalous boulders and improving the understanding of their origin. Through continued boulder hunting, field verification, and instrument-based measurements, the project's technical foundation can be strengthened and possible source areas prioritized for further exploration.
