Gässjö is part of Crustal's Faxälven district along with Edsele and Stensjö. The project is based on an historical, smaller sulphide ore mine, where older records indicate that copper, nickel and graphite have been mined and traces of gold have been noted.
The area coincides with electrical conductors identified through LKAB's airborne surveys in connection with graphite prospecting during the 1980s. This provides Gässjö with a concrete technical basis for further evaluation, but the project should still be described as an early-stage target area.
Crustal's work at Gässjö is aimed at evaluating the historical data and creating a better understanding of the project's technical conditions. Initial focus is on mapping and sampling around the historical mine, as well as geochemical till sampling to assess whether the area warrants more detailed geophysical surveys.
